Here is Chances Story:
Chance is a 10 week old (as of 6/29/13) black and tan, all natural Doberman puppy. He’s completely blind and will need a very special home that is willing to give him the patience, love and guidance he deserves. He is up to date on his shots, microchipped and neutered.
Chance was surrendered to animal control by his owner after finding out he was blind, but luckily Paws Humane steps in and pulled him. They knew he was a special needs dog and would be better placed in a Doberman specific rescue so they contacted us. When we heard his story, there was no way we could ever say no. He is believed to be 100% blind, but he will see a specialist just to find out the extent and if they feel it was genetic, or something else. He may be blind, but he’s a spirited little guy! He loves people and attention, and is very interested in exploring his surroundings with his other senses. He turns his head to listen to everything and loves to hear your voice. He’s very playful and will playbow and let out little barks now and then to get your attention.
Blind dogs like Chance adjust incredibly well, but they need to have an owner that is prepared to work with them while being careful not to baby them. He is a special needs puppy and will only be adopted to a home that understands him.
